At the invitation of Qatar Steel, the Board of Directors of Arab Iron and Steel Union (AISU) held its regular session meeting No. 107, and its General Assembly’s regular session meeting No. 46, on 19th and 20th May, 2013, at the Marriott Hotel in Doha. Representatives of 50 steel companies from 16 Arab countries, who are members of the Union’s Board of Directors, attended the meetings. The Agenda of Union’s Board Meeting included a review of the General Secretary’s report, on the Union’s activities and the most important updates with respect to  Arab and world steel industry. The report also included the decisions and recommendations made by the Board of Directors at its sessions 105 and 106, and the General Assembly at its 44th and 45th regular sessions, held in Cairo-Arab Republic of Egypt. Qatar Steel participated in Project Qatar 2013, which was held from May 6 – 9, at the Doha Exhibition Center, under the patronage of HE Sheikh Jassim Bin Abdulaziz Bin Jassim Bin Hamad al-Thani, Minister of Business and Trade. Project Qatar 2013 aims to explore key investment opportunities in construction sector, and to provide a strategic and dynamic platform for the construction industry’s key players and decision makers to discuss current trends and issues, showcase products and services and reinforce business ties between buyers and sellers. More than 2,100 exhibitors from across 50 countries participated in the high-impact four-day event, which provides networking opportunities that have been designed to foster the formation of new partnerships to help bolster Qatar’s already flourishing construction industry. As part of its constant initiatives to extend its international network, promote its brand image, and further enhance its trade and economic relations, Qatar Steel participated in 8th World Chambers Congress, which was held from 22-25 April, 2013, at Qatar National Conventions Center. The year’s biggest international gathering of chamber and business leaders was held under the theme “Opportunities for all”, and it was hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in partnership with the Qatar Chamber. The congress is held regularly every two years in a different region of the world, but this year it is held for the first time in the Middle East. The World Chambers Congress brought together chambers from over 100 countries and key policy makers.
