Qatar Steel, the leading steel company in the region, participated in the Arab Steel Summit 2013 (held from 26th -28th Oct. 2013 at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai), as Platinum Sponsor and the sole sponsor for the 1st day dinner in honour of the invited guests. The Arab Steel Summit is organized every year in the Arabian countries.

The Summit attracted leading Steel companies from 33 countries regionally and overseas. Delegates presented papers in the summit focusing on key issues and updates on steel industry.

Qatar Steel also took part in the World Steel Exhibition, held concurrently with the event under the patronage of Ministry of Economy UAE. Qatar Steel’s stand, with its special design, received the appreciation of most delegates and visitors. The stand provided Qatar Steel a good platform for networking and enhancing the relationships with leading steel industry players in ME and those in different parts of the world.

Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Director and General Manager of Qatar Steel, declared that the Arab Steel Summit is considered as a good opportunity for us to exchange expertise and viewpoints, get insight into latest and state of- art steel technologies.

“The Summit comes as a continuation of the successes seen in all the previous AISU annual events, the last of which was held in Casablanca, Morocco.” Mr. Al-Muraikhi added.

Qatar Steel hosted a meeting, from 19 -21 May, 2013, with AISU members at Doha Marriott Hotel, Doha. The meeting was aimed at reviewing the General Secretary’s report, the Union’s activities, and updates on the state of the regional and global steel industry.

Through sponsoring the Arab Steel summit and participating effectively in the exhibition, Qatar Steel had the chance to enhance its presence, due to the good reputation and solid strengthening business relations existing with in local and Gulf markets, aiming to consolidate its competitive position in the steel industry.

During the summit, Qatar Steel enhanced its visibility through advertisement placed in the Arab Steel magazine. Qatar Steel logo was also prominent in all print and electronic publications and on backdrop banners.

It is worth saying that Qatar Steel Company was formed in 1974 as the first integrated steel plant in the Arabian Gulf. Commercial production commenced in 1978 with the company becoming wholly owned by Industries Qatar in 2003.
