In pursuit of its objective to implement the quality Qatarization policy endorsed by the State of Qatar, Qatar Steel effectively participated in Qatar’s Career Fair, inaugurated by HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Heir Apparent, from 1-6 April 2013, at Qatar Conventions Centre. The six day event was organized by Qatar Foundation, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar University and Ministry of Labor.
Qatar Steel was inspired by the main vision and mission of the organizers of Career fair, which lie in encouraging fresh national graduates to join the industrial sector, offering job opportunities to highly motivated and promising people, and providing them with all required training in order to get them qualified for their prospective careers.
During the event, Qatar Steel’s managers from different Departments were available at the stand to deal with the visitors’ quires and to highlight the work opportunities available at the company.
As a rule, Qatar Steel gives absolute priority to its human resources, striving to ensure that Qatari nationals with appropriate qualifications are recruited, trained, and retained for career development. All possible chances are also provided to help them get progress in their careers and to further advance to their highest potentials, making sure that quality and efficiency are always maintained.
Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Director and General Manager of Qatar Steel, declared that the company’s participation in Qatar Career Fair is part of its commitment to the Strategic Qatarization Plan, which complies with Qatar’s National Vision 20130, aiming at developing a quality national workforce in diverse industries, including the steel Sector.
“With the full support of its Board Chairman, Qatar Steel has developed an extensive strategy to implement the Qatarization policy, through attracting, encouraging and urging the young fresh graduates and students to join the company, by allowing them to get an insight into the work opportunities available in various departments.” added Mr. Al-Muraikhi.
Mr. Kefah Mostafa Al-Mulla, Qatar Steel’s Administration Division Manager, said that as Qatar Steel is a large and expanding organization, it requires to be regularly supplied by new blood, through employing more nationals within the technical and administrative disciplines, and there is always a need to face any anticipated revolutionary changes.
Mr. Al-Mulla added that the work opportunities available are for high school graduates and university graduates, in different disciplines such as chemical, electrical, mechanical, industrial and technical engineering. Other areas are also required such as Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Information Technology, Business Administration, legal studies and others.
Mr. Mohamed Saleh Al-Mahdi, HR Manager said that Qatari employees are usually eligible to have many benefits and allowances, in addition to the basic salary and annual increment.
Mr. Al-Mahdi added that the training & Development Dept. is run by trained and qualified people, using state of art technology, which would raise the performance standards of trainees to attain highest levels of knowledge and skills.
Mr. Yousef Abdullah Al-Mansouri, Training & Learning Manager said that Qatar Steel offers a variety of training programs to its newly appointed staff, through setting special programs for technicians and providing personal development programs to qualify staff for managerial positions.
There are also scholarship opportunities according to the type of qualification required, it can be at local or overseas universities. There is always a room for summer training and internship programs for the pre-graduates, who are interested in joining our organization for the summer training programs.
Mr. Al-Mansouri confirmed that application forms presented in the fair will be carefully reviewed, in order to identify the candidates’ skills. The best applicants will be selected, based on their qualifications and experience; priority will be given, of course, to graduates, who have distinctive job aptitudes. They will be later recruited in the vacancies available according to their qualifications and inclinations.
