In line with the implementation of quality Qatarization policy, endorsed by the State of Qatar, Qatar Steel has participated in the 5th Career Fair, being held from 1-5 April 3012, at Qatar National Conventions Centre.
At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Director and General Manager of Qatar Steel, declared that the company is keen to participate annually in the career fair, to attract the outstanding and ambitious fresh Qatari graduates, who have real passion for work and self-development, to occupy the available positions, suitable for their specialties and qualifications.
Mr. Kefah Mustafa Al-Mulla, Administration Division Manager at Qatar Steel, said that the company is big and constantly expanding and growing, and it is in need of qualified Qatari cadres. “Our participation in the career fair is part of our commitment to implement the Strategic Qatarization plan, as envisioned in the Qatar National Vision 2030, aiming at quality development of human resources in all sectors, including industry.”, he added.
Mr. Mohamed Saleh Al-Mahdi, HR Manager at Qatar Steel, pointed out that the company attaches much importance to its manpower, and it strives to recruit the Qataris with technical and administrative disciplines, and they will be later provided by suitable training courses. “There are work opportunities for those who have completed high school, diploma or university studies. As for the Qatari Staff working at the company, they have a good package of benefits and allowances, in addition to the basic salary and increment; such as transport, location, housing, furniture allowances and others.”, he said.
“Applications received at the fair are thoroughly looked into, and the candidates will later be selected in accordance with their disciplines and qualifications, and they will be recruited in proper jobs, based on “the right man in the right place”. Scholarships are given to students to pursue their studies in Qatar and abroad. Internships programs and summer training are also offered to undergraduates.”, Al-Mahdi added.
QATAR STEEL Company was formed in 1974 as the first integrated steel plant in the Arabian Gulf. Commercial production commenced in 1978 and the company became wholly owned by Industries Qatar in 2003. It produces Steel reinforcement Bars and Wire Rod.
Qatar Steel also owns a steel plant in Jabal Ali in the UAE, producing reinforcement bars and rod wires. It has also some investments in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and looks forward to having more investments as well in other countries in the future.
