Qatar Steel held its annual Health, Safety and Environment Day ceremony. Every year, the company is keen to highlight and renew its commitment to its social responsibility by pairing operational excellence with the highest health, safety and environmental standards.

The ceremony was opened by Qatar Steel’s Managing Director & CEO Mr Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, also in attendance were the Departmental Chiefs Managers and a number of Qatar Steel employees and contractors. The program for the day included several awareness presentations by the Qatar Steel HSE Department, reflecting the Company’s commitment to health, safety and environment in all its operations, and its ongoing efforts to continuously develop and improve environmental performance by identifying and preventing environmental risks and promoting and encouraging environmental awareness and training.

The Managing Director & CEO Mr Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla addressed the attendees, stressing Qatar Steel’s willingness to view the ceremony as an occasion to review the achievements made in matters related to occupational health, safety and environment and to renew our commitment to maintain and continuously improve the efficiency of the company’s performance, policies and procedures in the field of safety, health and environmental management.  He stated that such an approach ensures the continuity of the safe work environment, which characterises Qatar Steel’s resolve, through periodic audits and inspections to ensure adherence to the highest standards of health, safety and environment.

The Managing Director & CEO Mr Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla concluded the ceremony by recognising the departments and individuals who have maintained the best health, safety and environment record at workplace during the year. He also thanked all Qatar Steel staff for their sustained efforts to enhance the success and progress of the Company year after year. He stated that the existence of a robust safety and security culture in the workplace is the result of everyone’s commitment to implementing the principle of “safety first” by taking the necessary measures to reduce the risk of HSE incidents in the future.
