Qatar Steel took part in Waste free Environment campaign in an effort to ‘clean up, recycle and make a difference’ held on March 10, 2022 at the Al Wakra family beach organized by GPCA. Along with MD & CEO – Qatar Steel, other young Qataris participated in the campaign.
On the occasion, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Steel, said: “Qatar Steel is proud to participate in the WFE today and pledge our commitment to integrate and maintain sustainability principles throughout our operations and the community”. Like previous campaigns which achieved a huge success, this year also it attained a far-reaching awareness among the community. He reiterated that, “Raising awareness about the consequences of irresponsible waste disposal is one of the first steps towards shaping a sustainable future and healthy Qatar.”
The WFE campaign is an environmental awareness and anti-litter campaign initiated by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA). The annual campaign aims to tackle some of the boiling challenges associated with environmental wastes. The campaign started with several awareness activities with schools, colleges and universities. Schools and universities were visited by their mentors to deliver an awareness-raising presentation aimed to introduce the importance of protecting the environment and need to preserve it.
One of the attraction was STEM Road show on the beach. This aimed at enriching and educating students about the importance of recycling of environmental wastes and imbibe them in our day-to-day activities.
Qatar Steel’s participation in the drive was an excellent way to express its commitment for the society and for the environment at large.
