Being part of Qatar Steel’s tradition and be admired for their business culture, the 9th Traders Annual Gathering was held at KATARA Cultural Village on March 15, 2012. Annually company is holding this gathering as part of their tradition to show appreciation & recognition towards customers’ continuous patronage of company products.
Keeping pace with the emerging global culture that emphasizes the importance of diversity in human development, Katara Cultural Village is the largest and the most multidimensional cultural project of Qatar born out of a long held vision to position the State of Qatar as a cultural beacon. On the occasion of the gathering, we commemorate traditional customs that define the Arabic culture as it rises to meet the challenges of the present and the future amidst a multicultural environment.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Ali Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Director and General Manager of Qatar Steel, said that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar and HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Heir Apparent, is now witnessing a comprehensive growth in all fields, including constructions, economic, industrial projects and others.
“On this occasion, we are honored to extend our thanks and appreciation to their highnesses for the great care and support that they have provided to the industrial sector, which has resulted in a quantum leap and great accomplishments”, he said.
“Qatar Steel, as the first integrated steel plant in the Arabian gulf and a national company, is a proactive partner in contributing towards the economic, human and social development and working in line with the goals set forward by the Qatar National Vision 2030,” Al-Muraikhi added.
Addressing the traders, Mr. Al-Muraikhi thanked them for their long standing business relationships that they have maintained with Qatar Steel reflecting their faith & loyalty for the company.
“We are proud of you for being the credible partners of Qatar Steel, representing in Qatar and GCC countries. We are certainly counting on your contribution to face the challenges posed by the stiff competition in the region and to maintain our leadership image in the market”, he concluded.
Mr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Commercial Division Manager of Qatar Steel affirmed that Annual Gathering is a perfect opportunity for the company to evaluate the performance of their partners and facilitate company to accomplish its targeted growth for the forthcoming period.
Al-Ansari pointed out that the discussions held with the traders at the gathering would surely improve their general performance, and at the same time, enhance the company’s work mechanism facilitating transparency by allowing the company to establish direct communication link with the traders.
The traders, established in Qatar and GCC countries, also reciprocated their thanks and appreciation for Qatar Steel for organizing such gathering. “Such events certainly show to what extent Qatar Steel cares for its business partners and considers their suggestions and feedback, which definitely is for the interest of the end-users.”, they said.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar Steel was formed in 1974 as the first integrated steel plant in the Arabian Gulf. Commercial production commenced in 1978 with the company becoming wholly owned by Industries Qatar in 2003, with a current annual production capacity of 2.4 million tons of DRI/HBI, 1.9 million tons of Molten Steel, 1.8 million tons of Steel reinforcement Bars.
The Company also owns UAE based subsidiary with a state-of-art Wire Rod Mill having capacity of 240,000 MT per annum and an advanced Rebar Mill having capacity of 300,000 MT per annum, making the total capacity 540,000 ton per annum.
