In compliance with its Qatarization plan, and in line with its strategy to attract Qatari manpower to join the company, Qatar Steel participated in Qatar Independent Technical School’s career fair. Leading Industrial companies along with a number of local universities and colleges also took part in the event.
This initiative comes within the framework of continual cooperation existing between Qatar Steel and QITS, aiming at familiarizing Qatari graduates with job opportunities available at the company’s various departments, and to encourage them to start their careers at the company in the future.
As a rule, Qatar Steel attaches a great importance to technical education, aiming at qualifying technical national manpower to contribute towards building up and development of local industries in Qatar. The Technical Education is given an exceptional attention and care by HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Heir Apparent. Their Highnesses’ valuable support basically aim at striving to achieve Qatar’s National Vision 2030, for developing the national manpower, and concentrating on the human resources in the country, as one of the most important pillars of that vision.
Through its ongoing cooperation with QITS, Qatar Steel gives it full support to technical education in Qatar, and it organizes special training internships programs, designed for high school students in general, and for those of QITS in particular. Training opportunities are given to the students at Qatar Steel’s plants in Mesaied Industrial City.
At the end of the school’s career fair, Qatar Steel’s officials extended their thanks and appreciation to the school’s faculty, for availing the company of the opportunity to take part in this event, which won high interest and attention by the school, the participating companies, and more importantly by QITS’s students themselves, who were highly interested and impressed.
QITS commended the solid cooperation and coordination existing between Qatar Steel and the school, for providing job opportunities to national graduates, and recruiting them in various vacancies available at Qatar Steel, as per their technical qualifications, and as required by work.
It is worth mentioning that QITS was founded in 1999, to offer career-oriented technical education at secondary level. The technical education Internship programs offered at QITS are in compliance with the current and potential requirements of the local labor market, and they qualify the students to work as technicians and professionals in various sectors within the State of Qatar. Programs are offered in Mechanical, Electrical, Process Plant Operations, Instrumentation, Welding and Information Technology.
