In appreciation of their significant contributions and dedication, Qatar Steel honored 131 employees, who have spent 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years. The recognition ceremony was held on 29th May, 2014, at Four Seasons Hotel- Doha.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Qatar Steel’s Managing Director and General Manager commended the employees for their dedication, commitment, perseverance and passion for work.
“Long service awards are just one of the many incentive policies we have adopted as part of our employee retention strategy to ensure that the skills and technical knowledge of Qatar Steel has nurtured and developed over time are retained within the company. In addition to that we also need to ensure that we continuously adopt within our own work environment, models of best practices which will make us deliver our work better, more efficient and also make us achieve better results all the time.”, Al-Muraikhi said.
Mr. Al-Muraikhi pointed out that the awardees should support their younger colleagues and to transfer their know-how of experience to them in order to assure a continuation of knowledge transfer within Qatar Steel and to build up strong generations at all times, and to ensure that they impart their skills to those who will remain behind to carry on the mantle of taking Qatar Steel to ever higher heights.
Mr. Al-Muraikhi called all staff to have good and professional relationships and to inculcate a sense of teamwork. He advised them to contribute to creating a positive and favorable work environment, and that supervisors and managers must make it their responsibility to support their subordinates with all the relevant materials and tools and equipment, so as to make it easy for them to do their jobs.
On behalf of the awardees, Mr. Mohamad Ansar who spent 35 years in service said that by honoring the long service employees, wisdom, knowledge, and experience may have been honored. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the company’s management for the relentless support and encouragement given to employees, and for creating a pleasant working atmosphere, where mutual respect, healthy employee relations and high motivation prevail.
