In line with its support to local community, Qatar Steel has signed an agreement with Administration of Civil Defense to sponsor all activities and functions related to 4th Civil Defense Exhibition & Conference, being held from 11th -13th Nov. 2013 at Qatar Conventions Centre.

Mr. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Ansari, Commercial Division Manager, signed the agreement on behalf of Mr. Ali bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Director & GM of Qatar Steel. Staff Brigadier Abdullah Mohamed al-Suwaidi, Director-General of Civil Defense Administration also signed the agreement.

Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, Director & General Manager of Qatar Steel declared that this agreement with Administration of Civil Defense stems from our belief in the role played by this administration as a national organization, and in the great services they present and the responsibilities they extend to the community.

“The 4th Civil Defense Exhibition & Conference and the related activities including cultural and awareness programs would contribute to a great extent to enhancing the link and cooperation with the community organizations and individuals. This would also lead in the end to achieving the objectives of the civil defense in establishing a sort of community partnership.

“The 4th Civil Defense Exhibition & Conference is considered as a good opportunity for national industrial companies and local world organizations specialized in security and safety to meet and exchange views, and get insight into state of art technology and latest equipment used in civil defense, and discussing the strict implementation of industrial security procedure and environment preservation. Industrial companies should be held responsible to make all its manufacturing processes environment friendly, through full commitment to regulations and rules of Ministry of Environment and the HSE standards.”, Al-Muraikhi added.

Staff Brigadier Abdullah Mohamed Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of Civil Defense Administration expressed his pleasure to have a partnership agreement with Qatar Steel, as they gave all support to make the Civil Defense Exhibition & Conference a success.

“Qatar Steel gives a great attention to developing and boosting the existing cooperation with Civil Defense Administration. They coordinate fully with us for achieving the goals of the expo and conference. Such a partnership would contribute to the efforts made by civil defense to spread safety public awareness and education among all classes of the society.

The Expo-related activities were launched two weeks prior to the commencement of the exhibition. Stands were installed by Civil Defense in all complexes around Doha; City Centre, Land Mark, Villagio, in addition to Qatar Foundation. Awareness programs included games to educate children and cultural quizzes. Special corners were assigned in the stands for drawing and painting. Officials were explaining to the public about the safety procedure and how to prevent dangers. Publications were distributed as well to the public about general safety.

Activities also included Qatar Camping expo, held from 23-25 Oct. at Doha Exhibition Centre, setting up an awareness Tent in Souq Waqef, for entertainment and safety awareness. Another event was Qatar Pools and spa Expo. All these events and functions were much admired by the public.

Mr. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Ansari, Commercial Division Manager in Qatar Steel said that our sponsorship of public events held concurrently with Civil Defense expo, reflects our firm belief of the outcome and input of such functions in raising the standard of awareness among community individuals, and in urging them to firmly stick to safety, security and prevention.

In addition to preoccupation with the industrial side, Qatar Steel assigns a great part of its job to community development initiatives and efforts, with the view to welfare and wellbeing of this community, in compliance with its message of corporate social responsibility, and its efforts to contribute to Qatar National Vision 2030.
