With an objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle among its local population in Qatar, the Sports Day was launched as a national event under the leadership of Shaikh Tamim to be followed every year to emphasize the importance of sports in the life of every individual and following a fit life by indulging into some kind of physical activity.

As part of the event, Qatar Steel organized family sports day at the MIC Sports Complex in Mesaieed. Employees from various departments participated along with their families between 8AM to 2PM.

The event flow was managed by two professional instructors who arranged contests among the kids/employees and organized fun games with football. Also, employees participated in basketball and in limited over cricket as well. To engage kids, recreational games were also arranged.

Qatar Steel aims to promote and spread the sport-culture among its employees and encourage them to engross in physical activities on a regular basis, exercising and improving their physical fitness and mental abilities to have a positive impact in their personal and professional life. As it is said: “The right mind rests in healthy body”.

Sporting event contributes in creating a healthy and lively environment all around. Qatar’s continued attention towards sports undeniably demonstrates the prolific expansion that has taken place in Qatar and this is the result of an able leadership shown in areas like, social, cultural, and educational, in light of prosperity and the economic renaissance attained by Qatar.

In his statement, Ali bin Hassan Al Muraikhi, Managing Director and General Manager of Qatar Steel, said that the importance of the national sports day is to raise the level of human development and contribute towards realizing the Qatar National Vision 2030 through the integration of social development paths with economic/industrial developments.

He also added that Qatar Steel strives to promote the health lifestyle of the members as part of community development. The Sports Day is a good opportunity for the members to meet and assemble in one place and consolidate their social relations and deepen the spirit of brotherhood and friendship among them.
